Summer is just around the corner and we are already looking forward to outdoor BBQs and s’mores. To really step up your backyard entertaining game, you may want to add an outdoor bar. However, they can be quite expensive. Instead, you can opt for one of these DIY outdoor bar ideas and have plenty of money left over to get it fully stocked in time for summer.
1. Expandable DIY Outdoor Bar
I love this DIY outdoor bar option because it is small and compact. Then, when you are mixing drinks, you can put up the leaf for extra counter space. Space efficient and looks great – win-win! (via Storefront Life)
2. DIY Outdoor Bars Made of Pallets
You may have seen this on our previous post 32 DIY Pallet Projects That Will Transform Your Home. Since pallets are often free or super cheap, you can make this DIY pallet bar on any budget. (via Setting for Four)
For a bit more rustic look, try this alternative DIY outdoor bar also made of pallets. There is not a full tutorial, but you won’t need one because it is super simple. All you need to do is screw together 2 pallets, spray paint whatever color you want, and then glue 3 concrete pavers to the pallets with construction adhesive for the countertop. It may also be a nice touch to add a bistro light garland for entertaining at night. Either way, you can easily have this outdoor bar built in one Saturday afternoon. (via The Garden Glove)
3. Ikea Hack: Rustic DIY Outdoor Bar
Who doesn’t love a good Ikea hack? Well, this is a great one. In this tutorial, the Ikea Varde kitchen island is transformed into a beautiful, rustic DIY outdoor bar. What’s more, they actually go the original Ikea piece at a thrift store for $25 – can you believe it?! (via Remodelaholic)
4. DIY Outdoor Bar with Concrete Countertop
If you’ve read other posts, you know how much I adore The Merry Thought’s work and this gorgeous bar cart is no exception. It would pair perfectly with the DIY pallet couch of theirs featured here. I am especially obsessed with the concrete countertop. (via The Merrythought)
5. Space-Saving Outdoor Bar
This quick & easy outdoor bar is perfect for a tiny outdoor space for those of us who live in more urban areas. Seriously, all you need is a handful of supplies and you can have this bar made in about 10 minutes – about as fast as you can whip up a batch of margaritas. (via Shabby Creek Cottage)
6. Rustic Industrial Multipurpose Outdoor Cart
You will get a ton of use of this rustic industrial outdoor cart. It can be a serving table, a grilling station, a cocktail bar, or a place to set up your s’mores fixings. It’s a great looking, versatile piece to add to your outdoor entertaining space. (via Brooklyn Limestone)
7. Cinderblock Bar
No need to spend a ton of money on expensive outdoor furniture. At only about $1 per block, you can make this cinderblock bar so inexpensively. 9. Potting Bench Makeover
This outdoor bar is actually a potting bench that was made over into this gorgeous outdoor bar. I adore the color, which is Sherwin Williams’ Tricorn Black. It is such a trendy paint color right now for cabinetry and home accents. Then she added some gorgeous details like the jute rope DIY towel holder. This outdoor bar is only the cherry on top of this amazing backyard makeover so make sure to check it out. (via City Farmhouse)
10. Colorful DIY Outdoor Bar
Here is another DIY outdoor bar that is a repurposed potting table. She points out that potting tables can serve as a great base for an outdoor bar because they are an ideal medium size, whereas bar carts can be too small if you are wanting it to hold a lot of drinks. Another reason potting tables can be great repurposed bars is that they often have a well for planting, but this can be made into an ice bucket for beers. Genius! (via Heathered Nest)
