My favorite life hacks are when you can repurpose or upcycle items around your house for a unique purpose you would have never thought of before. That is exactly what this post is all about. We’re sharing 15 different everyday objects that can be repurposed into DIY stamps to make homemade gift wrap, pillows, napkins, and more essentially for free.
1. DIY Potato Stamps
I love getting plain butcher or craft paper for holiday gift wrap and then coming up with unique ways to make designs. This Christmas tree DIY potato stamp is a brilliant example of how you can do that with items you already have in your house. You can use an old potato you were going to throw out and instead carve out whatever stamp shape you would like. Then, using a regular stamp pad, you can create amazing designs like this one. 2. Vegetable DIY Stamp Ideas
If you were to receive these gifts you would never guess that they were actually created using vegetable cuttings. Everyone will be amazed by how unique and creative it is when they find out! She uses acrylic paint for this project, so you don’t even need to have a stamp pad for these. My favorite is the half moon shape design using the carrot. (via Subtle Revelry)
The celery DIY stamp looks like a rose and creates a gorgeous, girly gift wrap. (via Brit + Co)
3. Fruit DIY Stamps
It’s not just vegetables that make great DIY Stamps. You can experiment with different types of fruit too and find your favorite. Citrus fruit like lemons and limes are some of my favorites. You can use any of these DIY stamp ideas to create DIY painted tea towels like these. (via Making Home Base)
4. Tree Stump to Stamp
I am obsessed with this idea of making a DIY stamp out of a tree stump to create a gorgeous rustic piece of wall art. It would be especially cool if you use a wood cutting that has sentimental meaning like from your parent’s house. (via Pinterest)
5. Wine Cork DIY Stamps
There are 3 different ways you can transform a wine cork into DIY stamps:
- Use as is to create a circle stamp.
- Carve a shape out of the cork itself.
- Attach a shape to the cork using foam board or wooden cutouts:
6. Toilet Paper Roll Homemade Stamp
Create a circle design on a tote bag or other fabric by upcyling your toilet paper roll into a stamp. You aren’t limited to just circles either, check out other shape ideas you can make here. This would also make a fun craft to do with kids to create their own toilet paper roll art. (via Lime Riot)
7. DIY Stamp Using Noodles
This repurposed pasta hack is so darn clever! Simply create patterns on wood blocks using dry pasta noodles you have in your pantry and you have a DIY stamp. In fact, you don’t even need a wood block. Instead, you could use a piece of cardboard or old jewelry box for your creation. Talk about repurposing! (via Belelu)
8. DIY Stamps with Yarn or String
Similar to above, instead of dry pasta, you can also wrap string or yarn around a wood block to create a DIY stamp. Again, like I mentioned above, if you don’t have a wood block, upcycle a piece of cardboard or old jewelry gift box instead. Unlike the tutorial above with pasta, this one doesn’t require any gluing or dry time, which is a bonus. (via Earnest Home Co)
