Hi, I’m Erica and I couldn’t be more thrilled that you are here! The last year was filled with not one but four life-altering changes for me:

  1. I got married
  2. Moved across the country
  3. Bought our first home
  4. My husband and I changed jobs

Some may say that is crazy, and yeah, it was a bit nutty. But, through this year, I learned my secret to happiness. So, I created She Tried What to share it with you all.

Instead of resisting the monumental changes happening in my life, I leaned into them. Now, I am not suggesting that you have to pack up your life and move across the country to be happy. Not at all.

In fact, it wasn’t the huge changes that were the secret to my happiness. They just helped by breaking me out of my rut. Instead, it was the small changes that truly made me happy: riding my bike on the weekend, fostering dogs like I had always wanted, or listening to a new podcast.

Don’t get me wrong, I am all for routines and still am. But…

 I believe that by focusing on trying one new thing per day outside of your regular routine, you are guaranteed to get a little bit happier each time.

These new things can be small like trying a new hairstyle, meditating for 5 minutes in the morning, riding your bike to the gym, or trying a new life hack. Small things!

And guess what? I am not suggesting they need to become habits. If you like them, do them more often, but you don’t have to. I think we can get into a mindset that we constantly need to be adopting new habits, but the truth is that just isn’t sustainable.

Instead, focus on one new thing a day that will bring you happiness that day. No pressure to ever do it again (unless you want to). The only habit I hope you take up is the habit of trying new things.
